Wangan Midnight - Maximum Tune 5 DX © 2015 Bandai NAMCO Games, Inc.

An upgrade to the 5th major installment of Bandai Namco Amusements' simulator-style arcade racer.

Features dozens of licensed cars and 60 story levels; Play story levels to build both the horsepower and handling. Players can also compete against drivers at other arcade locations via Namco's "ghost" system. Defeating a ghost will earn points where a player can buy new parts for their vehicle.

This game uses BANAPASSPORT cards and the cloud to save a player's progress.

TRIVIA

Released on December 15, 2015 in Japan; The update was released in North America on January 12th, 2022.

The Japanese version features a six-position shifter on the left hand side whereas the American version has it on the right, reflecting the placement of shifters on real cars (that still have them). There is no clutch pedal.

Bandai Namco did not license the Wangan Midnight part of the game for North America, so the game is just known as Maximum Tune 5DX+ in that region.

The game is not sold in single units, shipping with either a pair or two pairs, plus a kiosk. The kiosk allows players to modify the paint job and parts on their vehicle

The game was not officially released in Europe due to car licensing and Bandai Namco's feeling that the game can't sell well enough on the continent to justify it's sale.

Machines must be connected to Bandai Namco's BANAPASSPORT network and pay a monthly fee to correctly operate.
