The Moog Source (officially released as The Source) is a vintage monophonic analog synthesizer produced by Moog Music between 1981 and 1985. It is highly celebrated for being Moog's very first synthesizer to feature a microprocessor-controlled patch memory.
The Source is world-famous for its punchy basslines and piercing lead sounds. It defined the 1980s New Wave and Synthpop eras, most notably driving the iconic bassline of New Order's Blue Monday, and appearing on tracks by Depeche Mode, Devo, and Tangerine Dream.
