Clue is a digital adaptation of the classic board game of mystery and deduction. Developed by Software Toolworks, the game translates the board game's mechanics—moving through rooms, gathering clues, and making accusations—into a graphical interface designed to simulate the experience of playing on a tabletop.

Adaptation Mechanics:
The development team focused on maintaining the faithful whodunit logic of the original board game. It includes a variety of difficulty levels and AI-controlled opponents, allowing players to either play against the computer or in a multiplayer hot-seat mode that mimicked the turn-based nature of the physical game.

Visual Representation:
Unlike the static board, the SNES version utilizes animated portraits and interior views of the mansion’s rooms. This added a layer of immersion that sought to bring the mysterious atmosphere of Tudor Mansion to life for home console players.

Software Toolworks Legacy:
Clue was part of a broader wave of board-to-video game adaptations that Software Toolworks pursued in the early 90s, aiming to bring family-friendly, logic-based titles to an audience that was increasingly looking for non-violent gaming alternatives.
