Guessing bank is the first American gambling game. Inventor, Mr. Edward S. McLoughlin, patented this game as a toy bank to avoid patent restrictions on gambling devices.

At the time, Edward S. McLoughlin was a housepainter at New York City. He sold the rights to Winchester and Co. who manufacture it.
