On the practice, qualify, race screen, hold SELECT and quickly enter the following codes -

Buggy mode
Right, Up, Triangle, Left, Up, Square, Triangle
You will now racing on a 4x4 buggy

Bike Mode
Down, Up, Circle, Triangle, Right, Up, Square, Triangle
You will now be racing on a motorbike

Lava Track
Square, Circle, Up, Right, Right, Circle, X
The track you selected will become a lava pit

Frameout City Bonus Track
Left, Circle, Circle, Triangle, Triangle, Circle, Up, Right
You will unlock a car-shaped bonus track which normally unlocks after completing a full 17-race championship and finishing 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the final standings

For these cheats below you must have commentary turned on. Again on the practice, qualify, race screen, hold SELECT and quickly enter the following codes -

Gibberish Mode
Left, Circle, Up, Down, Down, Right, Circle, Square, Square
The game's commentator Murray Walker will now speak random soundbytes throughout the race, for example he may start the race by saying "he's hit the barrier" or say you're in 15th when you are actually last

German Mode
Down, Up, Left, Left, Square, Circle, X
The commentary will now be in German regardless of the selected language

Spanish Mode
Triangle, Circle, Right, Circle, Triangle, Circle, Right, Circle
The commentary will now be in Spanish regardless of the selected language
