SimAnt is a unique simulation game designed by Will Wright that allows players to experience life from the perspective of an ant. Originally released for PC in 1991, the Super Famicom version tasks players with managing an ant colony, engaging in combat with rival red ant colonies, and navigating the perils of a suburban backyard, all while attempting to conquer the human household.

Biological Accuracy vs. Game Design: While SimAnt was marketed as an educational tool for its relatively accurate simulation of ant behavior (such as pheromone communication and caste-based duties), it remains one of the most mechanically distinct games in the entire Sim series. The developers balanced complex biology with competitive strategy, creating a hybrid "war-game" simulation.
The "Human" Antagonist: Unlike other entries in the Sim series where the player is a god-like entity, SimAnt forces the player to interact with the environment on a micro-scale. The "human" in the game is an unwitting giant whose everyday movements (walking across the lawn, dropping food) act as massive, unpredictable events that can either benefit or destroy your colony.
Regional Adaptation: Imagineer’s port for the Super Famicom involved significant effort to adapt the keyboard-heavy PC interface to a controller. The UI was streamlined to allow for quick "pings" of pheromone trails, making the complex colony-management tasks manageable for a console audience.
