Video Entertainment System © 1976 Fairchild.
The first console with programmable cartridges.
This was the original name of the system which would be better known as the Fairchild Channel F.
Fairchild released the console as Video Entertainment System (shortly VES) in 1976. But when Atari released its first cartridge console as Atari VCS (Video Computer System) in 1977, Fairchild found the names sounded too similar. To avoid confusion Fairchild renamed their system Channel F.
