Accepted [+] [X] World Cup Update submitted by Arcadehero
World Cup (c) 1978 Sega Enterprises, Limited.
Discrete logic soccer game. Two players use a trackball to move soccer players across the field and pass the ball or shooting a goal by pushing the trackball. If an opponent moves their player on top of the other player, the ball is stolen. The player with the higher score at the end of the game (which lasts from 60 to 90 seconds) is the winner. World Cup has kick off whistle, applause and cheering sound effects.
- TRIVIA -
Released during March 1978. Where Atari Football would be released in October of that year, World Cup beat it to market, making it the first video game controlled with a trackball. Atari's effort was vastly more popular however, so the general consumer encountered the controller first through them.
Re-released by Exidy as "Football".

Accepted [+] [X] Wimbledon [Model 730] Update submitted by Arcadehero
Wimbledon (c) 1973 Nutting Associates.
A full color ball & paddle tennis game for 2-4 players. Instead of knobs to control the action, this used Nutting's slider controllers, which were also used on their Table Tennis and Paddle Derby games.
- TECHNICAL -
[Model 730]
- TRIVIA -
Wimbledon was released in November 1973 in the USA. It was one of the earliest games to use real color (as opposed to colored overlays) - some sources list it as THE first however, Atari's Gotcha Color model began production in October 1973, while Wimbledon debuted at the MOA 1973 tradeshow in November.
Despite being the first color ball & paddle game, Wimbledon and Nutting's other games failed to ignite the market and the company would face bankruptcy by the end of 1974. They did manage to emerge from that and licensed out Exidy's TV Pinball (branding it as Ricochet) in 1976 but it wasn't enough to keep the company afloat.

Accepted [+] [X] Computer Space Ball Update submitted by Arcadehero
Computer Space Ball (c) 1973 Nutting Associates.
A "Pong" variant, possibly the very first one to market.
- TRIVIA -
After Nolan Bushnell left Nutting to form Atari with Ted Dabney, the pair still did some work for Nutting by working on a 2-player version of Computer Space. When they had designed PONG, Nolan went to Bill Nutting and offered him a licensing deal but Bill rejected it, feeling that he could easily recreate the game. Their recreation would be Computer Space Ball, but it did little to stand out among the dozens of clones that would appear in '73.

Accepted [+] [X] Computer Quiz Update submitted by Arcadehero
Computer Quiz (c) 1967 Nutting Associates.
Answer one of the 2,500 multiple choice questions projected onto the screen by pushing one of five keys. The keys were marked A, B, C, D, E.
- TRIVIA -
Computer Quiz contains over 2,500 questions.
This game was initially designed by a company who created a testing/trivia machine for the US Navy. When an investor joked that it should have a coin slot on it, Bill thought it was a great idea and contacted his engineer brother Dave to make it a reality.
It was also released under the name "I.Q. Computer" in a similar cabinet.
Both games were successful as they were able to get around the stigma that many coin-op games had at the time - that coin-op equaled gambling. With pinball machines banned in most locations, including major cities like New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, Computer Quiz and I.Q. Computer could be placed anywhere you couldn't put a pinball machine as they were seen as edutainment devices.
Computer Quiz sold 4,200 units while I.Q Computer sold 3,600 thanks to this situation. At the time, a pinball machine was lucky to reach 1,500 sales.
