Swampwalker
In Swampwalker, your goal is to traverse a swamp. Within this swamp are sinkholes, and if you step in one of them, you will sink and die. Unfortunately, you can’t see the sinkholes, so you have to guess where they are. Fortunately, your guesses can be educated. When you step in a square, you will be told how many sinkholes are next to that square. You aren’t told where they are, just how many are nearby. This game involves some luck and a great deal of skull sweat; do it right and you’ll make it through the swamp alive. If not, mwahahaha....

CopyControl
CopyControl is an Apple IIgs Finder extension INIT file that vastly increases the copy options you have in the IIgs Finder, making Finder much more flexible and useful as a file copy utility. CopyControl allows you to copy only changed, newer, or files already existing on the destination disk. There is also an option to clear the “backup needed” bit of the source files. This can be tremendously useful; give it a try to see for yourself.

New Shaston
The Underlined version (Shaston 8 UL): Shaston is a great font; it’s probably the most readable of all fonts on the IIgs screen, and it’s used as the default font by most IIgs programs. But, it’s always suffered from one annoying limitation - you can’t underline text when using it. Well, Greg Templeman got it into his head to fix this annoying limitation - and the result is this great new version of Shaston!

Backdrop 1.0.1
BackDrop is a new desk accessory that allows you to change your desktop pattern to any of the colorful patterns included, or any pattern or picture you make on your own. It’s designed to be easy to use and great to play around with. This minor update to BackDrop includes a smashing set of new backdrop pictures provided by Ken Watanabe, the winner of our Backdrop contest from issue #50!

AppleWorks GS
Investments & Analysis: This is actually a set of three AppleWorks GS spreadsheet templates all relating to personal investment tracking and analysis. It will take some time to learn to use these templates to their fullest, but you should find it more than worth the effort once you have!

Spencer’s Corner
Playoff Chart: There’s no real article from Spencer this month——he decided to let his work stand on its own! A bonus for you AppleWorks GS users, for this month Spencer created a great page layout document for creating baseball/softball playoff charts. With some simple modification, you can use it for almost any sports playoff series. Enjoy!

Quizzical GS
Heroes & Villains: Quizzical GS is one of our more popular programs, so we thought it was time for a new version with new quiz material! Those of you who grew up reading comics (like a lot of us here did), or who still read comics (like a lot of us here do) should enjoy this quiz immensely. Those of you who didn’t, well... pooh on you, go find some other game to play!

Clip Art: This month’s clip art has a travel-oriented theme. The images included are:
· Lady staring at the horizon.
· Boat sailing toward sunset.
· Passport & Boarding Pass.
· Ship with Bon Voyage message.
· Luggage tag.

Softdisk 55 Patch:
Issue #55 had a problem in the way the Shell was disposing of menus, which under certain conditions could cause your system to crash. We included a patch program on this issue to fix the Issue #55 Shell. Note that this bug was fixed on all back-issue copies of Issue #55 here at Softdisk, so if you order a copy of Issue #55 from us as a back issue, it will have this patch already applied to it.
