Actual Entry (non editable)
Kirby's Avalanche (c) 1995 Nintendo Company, Limited. Kirby's Avalanche is a puzzle game developed by Compile and HAL Laboratory. The game is a Western-themed reskin of Compile's famous Japanese puzzle hit Puyo Puyo, replacing the original characters with figures from the Kirby universe. - TECHNICAL - GAME ID: SNS-PQ-USA-1 - TRIVIA - The Puyo Puyo Connection: While the gameplay is identical to Puyo Puyo, Nintendo gave the game a distinctly snarky personality. Kirby and his opponents frequently exchange witty, mocking banter via dialogue boxes before and during matches, giving the pink hero a much more vocal attitude than usual. Gameplay Mechanics: Players drop pairs of colored blobs (puyos) into a board. Matching four or more of the same color causes them to pop, which in turn sends garbage blocks down onto your opponent's screen to clog their board. Chaining multiple pops together creates massive combo attacks that are essential for defeating later computer opponents. Soundtrack & Hardware: The game features high-energy, arranged techno versions of classic Kirby themes. Because it was developed using Compile's established puzzle engine, it runs smoothly on the SNES hardware, capturing the fast-paced competitive intensity of the original arcade release. - SOURCES - ROM dump (MAME).
