Actual Entry (non editable)
Judge Dredd (c) 1995 Acclaim Ent., Incorporated. Judge Dredd is a side-scrolling action-platformer developed by Probe Entertainment. Based on the 1995 feature film starring Sylvester Stallone, the game puts players in the role of the titular lawman as he traverses Mega-City One, wastelands, and the surreal 'Darkworld' to apprehend his brother, Rico, and battle the nefarious Dark Judges. - TECHNICAL - GAME ID: SNS-AJDE-USA - TRIVIA - Released in June 1995 in USA. Development & Design: The game’s development was notable for its mix of source material: seven of the 12 levels featured backgrounds digitized from movie sets, while the remaining five were based on the original 2000 AD comic book aesthetic. A hidden developer message can be found at the very beginning of the ROM. Gameplay Mechanics: Departing from standard "run-and-gun" tropes, the game includes a unique "sentencing" system. Players can choose to arrest criminals rather than execute them; successful arrests earn more points, which are essential for gaining extra lives in a game known for its punishing difficulty. Arsenal Variety: Dredd’s Lawgiver pistol serves as the core of the combat system, which players can upgrade with various ammunition types—including standard bullets, ricochet rounds, and the "Boing" capture bubble—to tackle specific enemy types and bosses. - STAFF - Producers (Acclaim): Mike Arkin, Mark Flitman, Tyrone Miller Producers (Probe): Greg Michael, Keith Jackson, Tony Porter, James Stewart Musician: Andy Brock Mappers: Simon Bland, Ben O'Reilly, Andy Cambridge Background graphics: Anthony 'Blizzard' Rosbottom, Phil Williams, Steve Middleton Sprite graphics: Eric Bailey, Pierson Lippard, Darren Goodacre, Lloyd Chidgzey Programmer: Carl Muller Programming thanks: Dan Phillips, Rob Northen, David Shea - SOURCES - ROM dump (MAME).
