Bubsy in Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind is a fast-paced platformer. The game follows Bubsy, an anthropomorphic bobcat, who must protect his collection of yarn balls from the villainous Woolies—aliens intent on stealing all the yarn in the world.

Description from the Back cover:
"When you're a bankable star like me, they don't skimp on the megs, no siree bobcat... 16 megs! 16 mondo megs of marvelous me pouncing outta this cart - running, leaping, flying and falling all over your face! I'm Bubsy. I'm trying to save the Earth from Woolies. No, Woolies aren't what you get from wearing cheap underwear! Woolies are space dweebs in flying saucers out to purloin the earth's supply of yarnballs. But enough about them. Let's talk about me!" Over 40 awesome animations. Five wild worlds. Countless furballs. An average of 300 screens purr level. Seven music tracks, more sound effects, gorgeous graphics, and digitized voices!

TRIVIA

Released in May 1993 in USA.

Speed-Oriented Design:
Bubsy was marketed as a direct competitor to high-velocity platformers like Sonic the Hedgehog. The game is designed around large, open levels that encourage the player to maintain momentum, though this focus on speed frequently leads to "instant-death" hazards if the player does not memorize the level layouts.

Unique Physics:
The protagonist’s movement is marked by extreme acceleration and a distinctive gliding mechanic, which allows Bubsy to survive long falls but makes precision platforming exceptionally challenging.

The "Yarn" Aesthetic:
The game leans heavily into its whimsical theme, with levels themed around various quirky environments like a giant music set, a movie studio, and a theme park, all rendered with bright, saturated colors typical of early 90s mascot platformers.
