Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius is the fourth major installment in the Parodius series and arguably the most technically impressive shooter on the console. It takes the frantic, absurdist "parody" gameplay of the franchise and adds a revolutionary twist: the 'Oshaberi' (Chatting/Talking) system. Through the use of an expanded audio sample bank, the game features constant, dynamic commentary from a dedicated 'announcer' who reacts in real-time to the player’s performance, deaths, and power-ups, creating a chaotic, hilarious atmosphere that mimics a live variety show.

Released on December 15, 1995 in Japan.
Audio Innovation: The 'talking' aspect was a technical triumph for the Super Famicom, utilizing a large amount of the cartridge's memory for high-quality voice samples. This constant audio feedback turned a standard shoot-'em-up into an interactive comedic experience, distinguishing it from the more serious shooters of the era.
The Parody Peak: This title is widely considered the pinnacle of the series, featuring a surreal roster of characters (including the iconic Takosuke and twin fairies) and imaginative, ever-changing stage themes that lovingly—and mockingly—deconstructed Konami's own Gradius and TwinBee legacy.
Gameplay Polish: Beyond the humor, the game is a masterclass in shoot-'em-up design. It features tight hitboxes, diverse weapon upgrade paths for each character, and intense boss battles that require precise memorization and reflexes, proving that absurdity and mechanical depth could coexist perfectly.
