Ganbare Goemon 2: Kiteretsu Shougun Magginesu is the high-energy sequel to the console's debut entry. In this installment, Goemon and Ebisumaru are joined by the mechanical ninja Sasuke as they travel across feudal Japan to defeat the titular General Magginesu, who intends to modernize the country using his eccentric, Western-influenced inventions. This title refined the side-scrolling action of the first game, introducing larger, more complex levels and the now-iconic giant robot battles that would become a staple of the franchise.

The game was presented at the Famicom Spaceworld' 93 in August 1993 in Japan.
Introduction of Sasuke: This game marks the first playable appearance of Sasuke, the mechanical ninja, who offers a different playstyle with his quick, long-range attacks. The ability to switch between Goemon, Ebisumaru, and Sasuke on the fly added a layer of tactical depth to the platforming and combat.
The Rise of Impact: Goemon 2 is legendary for pioneering the Impact robot boss battles. These segments switch the perspective to a first-person view, tasking the player with piloting a giant wooden robot to brawl against equally massive mechanical bosses—a bold, cinematic departure from the standard platforming sections.
Refined Gameplay Loop: While the first game experimented with the genre, Goemon 2 solidified the series' formula: a mix of lighthearted action, exploration in towns, arcade-style minigames, and a sharp, comedic narrative that poked fun at historical tropes.
