Choujikuu Yousai Macross - Scrambled Valkyrie (c) 1993 Zamuse Choujikuu Yousai Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie is a high-speed horizontal scrolling shooter based on the iconic anime franchise. Published by Zamuse and developed by Winkysoft, the game places players in the cockpit of transformable Valkyrie fighters to defend humanity against the Zentraedi forces. It is highly regarded for its faithful recreation of the series' transformational mechanics, allowing players to fluidly switch between Fighter, Gerwalk, and Battroid modes to adapt to the battlefield. Weapon Upgrade System: Power-ups are collected via P pods. Each of the three transformation modes maintains its own separate weapon upgrade level (up to three stages). A notable risk/reward mechanic is that sustaining damage immediately downgrades the current weapon level of your active mode. Selectable Characters: Players choose between three pilots—Hikaru Ichijyo, Max Jenius, and Milia Fallyna Jenius—each piloting a unique Valkyrie variant with distinct handling and weapon performance characteristics. The "Minmay Cannon": By idling weapon fire for a few seconds, the pilot activates the "Minmay Cannon," a unique force field mechanic. This shield captures enemy projectiles and ships, allowing them to be utilized as either defensive barriers or secondary offensive weapons, adding a layer of tactical depth to standard shooter survival. - TECHNICAL - GAME ID: SHVC-M9 BARCODE: 4943643737017 - TRIVIA - Released on October 29, 1993 (Friday) in Japan at a retail price of 8,800 JPY. It is one of the more technically impressive shooters on the Super Famicom, noted for its smooth sprite work and fast-paced action. Series Fidelity: The game is praised for its thematic accuracy, including the inclusion of character-specific dialogue sequences and cutscenes that mirror the tone and plot beats of the Macross universe. - STAFF - Producer: Junichi Moriya, Toshihiko Yamada Original Valkyrie Design: Syouji Kawamori Director: Konan Morita Main Programmer: Yasunari Onishi (Yas Ohnishi) Sub Programmer: Takeshi Watanabe Object Design: Tadahiro Wada Graphics: Atsuki Toda, Tohru Honda, Keiko Ohra, Emu Fujii, Hideki Nishimura Music Compose: Nobo Yamane Special Thanks to; Masahiko Sakata, Kazumi Sakaki, Kenichirou Matsumoto Programmed by Winky Soft Produced by Zamuse - SOURCES - ROM dump (MAME).
