メソポタミア (c) 1991 Atlus Company, Limited. (Mesopotamia) Mesopotamia is an original and cute platform game. Player controls a weird looking creature that moves by sticking one of its end to walls, in a way similar to a caterpillar, or more precisely like those metallic string toys that can go down the stairs. The game is based on Zodiacal elements and counts twelve big stages with a nasty boss at the end of each of them. Many other weird creatures are also scattered around each maze and are there to stop the player. The caterpillar-like creature has an extra ring in its middle which can fire back at those annoying things. To increase the challenge a little, the player mush reach the exit of each time within a time limit. When destroyed, some enemies drop special power-ups, like extra life, shields, the priceless super-speed or bouncing-shots options. - TECHNICAL - GAME ID: AT03001 BARCODE: 4984995500010 HuCARD Size: 4 Mbits. - TRIVIA - Released on October 4, 1991 (Friday) in Japan. Retail price: 6800 Yen. Export releases: [US] "Somer Assault [Model TGX040089]" - TIPS AND TRICKS - Additional lives: The best cheat, by far, is the option to gain additional lives during the game. To activate it, just pause and up-pause the game a hundred times! When activated, this cheat will force enemies to drop extra lives when defeated. You can only store a maximum of fifty lives at the time though. Sound Test Screen: After you start the game, at the screen where you are asked to enter your birth date, hold Up and I, then press Run. If done right, it will activate the Sound Test Screen (picture on the right). There you can play any music or sound effects from the game. Mysterious second hidden screen: Well, that's not the end of it. At the Sound Test Screen, press Select, Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, II and I. A second mysterious screen should appear, but it is hard to tell what this one actually does... (picture on the right). Hidden Mini Game: Now things get really interesting! At the mysterious screen, wait until the screen flashes and press II, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, II and I. It is rather tricky to get right, but it will unlock a simple and hidden vertical shooter! (picture on the right). - STAFF - Planner: Mayo Takahashi (Mayodon Mania) Programmer: Tsuyoshi Kunieda (Tuohi) Character Designer: Kazuma Kaneko (Kazuhiro Kaneko) Graphic Designer: Yoshimi Haishita, Koji Takino Music Composer: Hidehito Aoki, Katsuyuki Inose Supervisor: Hideyuki Yokoyama (Tonny Yokoyama) Special Thanks: Yosuke Niino (Robert De Niino), Sawako Satō, Super Hitoshikun, Seigo Aihara (Irene Aihara), Noburo Kawai (Pappalah Kawai), Tatsuo Komatsu (Mr. Komatsu), Yuichi Iwata (Gyu Doh Iwata), Naoto Hiraoka (Annen Yama), Bamorah Aikichi, Shinichi Fujiki (Kimudon Fujiki), Parabou, Takashi Sueyoshi (Suikichi) - SOURCES - ROM dump (MAME).
