Barbercut R is a 2-player machine where players control a scissor mechanism and must cut hanging strings to win the attached prizes.

It is an updated version of the original Barbercut, and features some slight modifications to the original :
- The position of the scissor unit has been reversed, with the scissors now cutting from behind the string which gives players a better view of the action.
- Each hanging string also slots into a thin pipe across the playfield which serves to stabilize the string, limiting its movement during play.
