Virus Rack XL (c) 2002 Access Music GmbH. The Virus Rack XL is a dense, high-performance 1U rack-mountable virtual analog (VA) synthesizer. It was designed to pack the complete, aggressive sonic power of the critically acclaimed Virus C desktop hardware into a streamlined, space-saving format tailored for professional touring rigs and crowded recording studios. The internal architecture of the Rack XL is fully digital, driven by powerful Motorola DSP microchips running advanced Virtual Analog modeling algorithms. It features an impressive 32-voice polyphony engine and a 16-part multi-timbral layout, allowing it to act as a complete multi-track synthesizer workstation when driven by an external MIDI sequencer. Each voice consists of three main oscillators, one sub-oscillator, and two completely independent multi-mode filters (including low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, and band-reject configurations) that can be routed in series or parallel. To bridge the gap between menu diving and live tweaking, the slim front panel is equipped with a distinct red backlit LCD screen, a matrix of selection buttons, and five dedicated, assignable rotary knobs.
