Actual Entry (non editable)
Arkanoid - Doh It Again (c) 1997 Taito Corp. Arkanoid - Doh It Again is an upgraded version of the arcade game Arkanoid originally released by Taito. The game's concept is based on Atari's Breakout, but with more depth and content. The alien Doh, giant enigmatic head somehow inspired by the MPC core from Tron and the famous Easter Islands statues, menaces the universe and prevents human spaceships to colonize distant planets. The player takes control of a scout vessel called Vaus curiously shaped like a paddle. The goal of the game is to clean up every bricks on the screen with the energy ball, and this through not less than a hundred stages. But things get a little more complex. Not all bricks have the same properties - some just disappear when hit, others need a number of hits and some are just indestructible. They may also drop power-up cells that give the player new abilities such as extra-life, laser-gun, multiple-balls, large or small paddle, thunder-shield and so forth. Every ten levels or so, the player faces a mean boss who must be defeated to carry on. The game can be played with a standard Super Famicom paddle (thanks to the L and R button which boost the paddle in one direction) but also with the mouse. Finally, a save option (using passwords) is available without forgetting a neat level editor. - TECHNICAL - GAME ID: SHVC-A6 BARCODE: 4988611960141 - TRIVIA - Released on January 15, 1997 (Wednesday) in Japan at a retail price of 4,980 Yen. - SERIES - 1.
