What would a 3D spiritual successor to Midway's Smash TV look like? It would be The Grid. Contestants battle it out in an arena loaded with weapons, vying for a chance at fortune and glory. All it takes is a little skill and a bit of luck to survive.

The Grid was designed as a multiplayer game, pitting players against each other in various arenas with 25 weapons to choose from. Earn both points and money to get ahead and dominate The Grid.

TRIVIA

The Grid was released on July 17, 2000.

This featured three characters from the Mortal Kombat franchise as playable characters: Sub Zero, Scorpion, and Noob Saibot. Sub Zero & Scorpion use the same 3D models from Midway's Mortal Kombat 4.

The Grid has achieved cult status among gamers of the era, often being a favorite piece at arcade collector events. It is most impressive when linked using a wide marquee.

PORTS
Rumors to be released on Sega Dreamcast, Sony Playstation 2, even a less stronger system- Nintendo 64. The idea was canceled as the designers were concentrated on "Mortal Kombat V".
