Released in November 1992, Dino Rex was originally planned to be released exclusively to the western market, but in the end the game was released to the Japanese market, too.
At the beginning of the game development, the original plan was to design a helicopter shoot'em up, but this changed because of the success of the famous "Street Fighter II: The World Warrior".
According to one of the director (Senba Takatsuna), he lacked of Taito's programmers so he recruited new programmers, not familiar with Taito, for this game.
If you end a fight with a Double KO or a Draw, your dinosaur handlers (Rastan from Warrior Blade wearing a mask) have to fight. Character have hidden Street Fighter 2 moves; Dragon Punch, Hurricane Kicks and a Dinosaur Fireball.
