Metal Marines is a real-time strategy and tactical war game (based on the Japanese PC-9801 title Cyber Knight / Metal Marines). Set in a post-apocalyptic future where much of the Earth's landmass has been destroyed, players command military bases and deploy bipedal, nuclear-armed mechs known as "Metal Marines" to launch devastating missile strikes and ground invasions against enemy installations across the globe.

GAME ID: SNS-6M-USA
Released in December 1993 in the USA.
Pioneering Console RTS:
Released during an era when real-time strategy games were almost exclusively the domain of personal computers, Metal Marines successfully bridged the gap to 16-bit consoles, introducing a split-screen or switching interface that allowed players to manage both base building and offensive maneuvers.
Tactical Depth and Destruction:
The core gameplay revolves around resource management, defensive fortification placement, and tactical radar usage. Players must construct missile silos, anti-air turrets, and command centers while carefully aiming nuclear payloads to cripple the opponent's infrastructure before they retaliate.
Namco's Porting Expertise:
While Namco is most famous for classic arcade hits like Pac-Man and Ridge Racer, the company adapted this complex strategic simulation specifically for SNES controllers, streamlining menu navigation without sacrificing the deep tactical challenge of the original release.
