Raiden Densetsu is the 16-bit home console port of Seibu Kaihatsu’s iconic 1990 arcade vertical shooter. While it retains the core mechanics of the arcade original, the Super Famicom version features adjustments to enemy patterns, difficulty scaling, and sprite management to account for the console's hardware limitations, aiming to provide a smoother experience by avoiding the performance slowdowns often seen in other shooters of the era.

Specifications: The game utilizes an 8-megabit ROM.

TRIVIA

Publisher Clarification: While sometimes incorrectly associated with Toei Animation in various secondary listings, the Japanese release was published by Toei (often specifically credited as Toei/Toei Video in this context) under license, while the original developer remained Seibu Kaihatsu, with the console port development handled by Micronics.

Gameplay Adjustments: To ensure the game maintained a high frame rate on the Super Famicom, the developers made significant changes compared to the arcade version. This includes fewer projectiles on screen simultaneously, altered boss behaviors, and a modified weapon-recovery system that grants a random power-up immediately upon respawning after a death.

The 'Trad' Branding: The title Raiden Densetsu translates to "Legend of Raiden." It was rebranded as Raiden Trad for its North American release (published by Electro Brain), which has led to some collector confusion regarding the shared serial numbering conventions between regions.
