Serving as a console-exclusive entry in the long-running Cotton series, the game follows the candy-obsessed witch, Cotton, and her fairy companion, Silk, as they traverse seven vibrant stages. The game is highly regarded for its colorful visuals, whimsical atmosphere, and a unique power-up system that blends traditional shooter mechanics with light RPG elements.

TRIVIA

Released on April 22, 1994 in Japan at a retail price of 9,300 JPY. A mini audio CD composed by DataM Polystar Music Team was included with Marchen Adventure Cotton 100%.

The game was presented at the Famicom Spaceworld' 93 in August 1993 in Japan.

Experience-Based Power-Ups: Unlike many shooters of the era that relied on simple item pickups, Cotton 100% uses an experience point system. Collecting crystals levels up your main shot, requiring players to actively hunt for items to maintain their offensive output throughout the stages.

The 'Tea Time' Bonus: Staying true to the series' quirky identity, each stage concludes with a Tea Time bonus round. This mini-game tests the player's reflexes as they scramble to collect falling teacups within a strict time limit, adding a layer of score-chasing depth.

Tactical Magic: The player can customize their arsenal at the start of the game by selecting a specific loadout of spells (like Fire Dragon, Thunder, or Barrier). The ability to cycle through these spells using the shoulder buttons during gameplay adds a layer of strategy missing from more linear arcade shooters.
