The UM486V-AIO is a classic mid-1990s 80486 Baby AT motherboard, frequently produced by Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) and other generic OEM manufacturers. Built around the highly reliable UMC UM8498F (or early UM8496F) core logic chipset, the board features a versatile x86 processor platform utilizing a 168-pin Socket 3 architecture. It supports a mainstream selection of 486 microprocessors, including Intel 486SX/DX/DX2, AMD Am486, and Cyrix variants running at Front-Side Bus speeds from 25 MHz up to 40 MHz. True to its "V-AIO" designation, it integrates three high-performance 32-bit VESA Local Bus (VLB) expansion slots paired alongside an All-In-One onboard multi-I/O controller management block. Memory handling is split between four classic 30-pin SIMM sockets and two 72-pin SIMM slots, supported by an expandable discrete dynamic L2 secondary cache holding up to 256 KB of static SRAM DIP modules.
The Hybrid Memory Setup: To manage the chaotic RAM market transition of 1994, the motherboard layout combined both older 30-pin and modern 72-pin SIMM slots on a single board.
