The Grid (c) 2000 Midway Games, Incorporated. What would a 3D spiritual successor to Midway's Smash TV look like? It would be The Grid. Contestants battle it out in an arena loaded with weapons, vying for a chance at fortune and glory. All it takes is a little skill and a bit of luck to survive. The Grid was designed as a multiplayer game, pitting players against each other in various arenas with 25 weapons to choose from. Earn both points and money to get ahead and dominate The Grid. - TECHNICAL - Midway Zeus 2 hardware Main CPU: TMS32031 (@ 50 Mhz) Sound CPU: ADSP2104 (@ 16 Mhz) Sound Chips: (2x) DMA-driven (@ 16 Mhz) Players: 1 per cabinet; Linkable up to six cabinets. Control: 8-way joystick; Trackball for aiming. Buttons: 2 - TRIVIA - The Grid was released on July 17, 2000. This featured three characters from the Mortal Kombat franchise as playable characters: Sub Zero, Scorpion, and Noob Saibot. Sub Zero & Scorpion use the same 3D models from Midway's Mortal Kombat 4. The Grid has achieved cult status among gamers of the era, often being a favorite piece at arcade collector events. It is most impressive when linked using a wide marquee. - PORTS - Rumors to be released on Sega Dreamcast, Sony Playstation 2, even a less stronger system- Nintendo 64.
