The 386/32 was specifically designed to handle the later, faster 386DX processors (like the 33MHz and 40MHz variants) with better signal integrity than the earlier "A" series boards. It is best known for its improved memory controller and more stable cache implementation, which made it a preferred choice for mid-range office workstations that required 24/7 reliability.

Cache: Supports 64/128/256 KB L2 cache.
Form Factor: Baby AT (a key difference from the full-size AT format of the ecs386a, making it easier to fit into modern-looking cases).
The "32" Naming: The "32" in the name is a deliberate reference to the 32-bit external data bus of the 386DX processor. ECS used this branding to explicitly differentiate it from the SX boards, which were confusing consumers who thought they were buying "true" 32-bit machines.
The "Clean-Up" Board: If you compare an ecs386a to an ecs386_32, you will notice the board layout is much cleaner, with the cache and memory controller logic moved closer to the CPU socket. This reduced bus latency and improved the stability of the 40 MHz clock speed.
