The Korg DVP-1 Digital Voice Processor was a compact vocal and instrument processing unit designed for studio and live performance use. Developed by Korg, it combined pitch shifting, harmonization, formant-style voice processing, and early digital effects in a rackmount format. The DVP-1 was intended to expand the expressive capabilities of vocalists and keyboard players by allowing real-time manipulation of voice timbre and pitch through MIDI and audio input control. It represented one of Korg’s early explorations into digital voice transformation technology.
The DVP-1 was one of the earliest commercially available digital vocal processors capable of real-time pitch shifting and harmonization.
It allowed users to create multi-voice harmonies from a single vocal input, a feature that became standard in later vocal processors.
The unit included preset vocal effects that could simulate robotic voices, chorus-style doubling, and pitched transformations.
It could be controlled via MIDI, allowing keyboard-triggered harmonies and real-time performance control.
