The Hawk is an early-generation 80486 Baby AT motherboard manufactured by Octek around 1991 to 1992. Built on a classic, full-ISA infrastructure before the mainstream adoption of VESA Local Bus or PCI standards, it features seven 16-bit ISA expansion slots and one 8-bit ISA slot. The board natively accommodates early 168-pin PGA Intel 80486DX or 486SX microprocessors running at clock speeds of 25 MHz or 33 MHz, alongside a dedicated socket for an early external math co-processor upgrade or Intel OverDrive chip. Driven by a multi-chip Symphony or OPTi core logic chipset, the Hawk features a robust discrete L2 cache subsystem supporting 64 KB to 256 KB of high-speed static RAM (SRAM) DIP chips and handles main memory via eight traditional 30-pin SIMM sockets.

The Early 486 Baseline: Because the Hawk was designed right at the transition from the 386 to the 486 era, it lacks the specialized integrated local buses (like VLB) found in late-90s clones. This means that even with a fast 486DX CPU, heavy graphical tasks like early 3D rendering or high-resolution SVGA video modes were fundamentally constrained by the bandwidth limits of the standard 8 MHz ISA bus.

The OverDrive Bridge: The motherboard layout was heavily targeted at corporate buyers who wanted to purchase a cheaper 486SX system initially and upgrade later. Its flexible clock generator jumpers and upgrade socket variants allowed it to easily accept early 5V Intel 486 OverDrive processors (like the DX2-66 upgrade variant).
