The Open is a golf simulation in which the player has to decide on not only the direction in which to hit the ball, but also on the club and the strength of the stroke. The timing of the swing has to be correct so that the ball neither sliced or hooked. The player can choose their type of play - championship, a single round or a practice round. The game gives an option to decide on wind direction and force. There are two courses, Carnoustie and Turnberry and records and statistics of past Opens are included in the game.
