Text Editing Pac © 1980 Hewlett-Packard
The Text Editing Pac allows the user to write memos, outlines, and reports on the CRT screen and edit the copy by changing words and moving sections. Text can be saved on tape or disc and can be recalled later for further editing or hard-copy printout. In addition, the text editing software provides the user with the following commands:
ADD: This function lets the user add to existing text from either the keyboard or a tape/disc file. Where the new text should be added can be specified exactly.
DELETE: This feature allows text to be deleted from memory by line number. For of nger passages, the first and last lines to be deleted within a block of text can be specified and the entire block will be deleted.
REPLACE: By first specifying the lines to be replaced and then the source of the new text, text already in memory can be changed. Entire blocks of text can be replaced simply by specifying the first and last lines of the section to be altered.
MOVE: This option allows lines of text which are in memory to be moved. The user can specify the exact locations of the lines to be moved and their destinations, or move an entire block of text by identifying only the first and last lines of the block.
RENUMB: When text is edited, line numbers are not automatically associated with edited lines. The RENUMBer feature lets the user assign line numbers to these lines.
