Supapoon is a cute breakout game published by Yutaka and developed by Now Production. Sure, we have here another Arkanoid clone, but Supapoon offers a couple of unique and new twists to the genre. First of all, not all bricks need to be cleared up to complete a stage. Only the strange looking yellow balls and their odd sun glasses need to be popped out to clear a stage. Cleaning everything up on screen awards the player with a special perfect bonus though. As expected, some bricks and other gems can release small power-ups (usually symbolized by a colored Hiragana character) that players can use to increase the size of the paddle, trigger multi-balls, get an extra life or build a wall-shield at the bottom of the screen. Sometimes, stars and tiny skulls can also fall down. The paddle can hit the ball when the action button is pressed and, in function of how many stars have been collected, can increase the ball's power hit. If the player collects more than four, then a powerful bomb wipes out most of the bricks on screen! Finally, the paddle has a life bar displayed on the left of the screen. This bar plays a vital role and constantly decreases. More than a time limit, the bar also reduces each time the player gets hit, or collects a skull. Supapoon has more surprises in store, including bosses, bonus stages and various, and often unusual, special bricks and items.
