TRIVIA

The story of Star Fox Adventures begins at Nintendo in Kyoto, Japan, predating the involvement of Rare and Dinosaur Planet.

As the Nintendo 64 approached the end of its lifecycle, Takaya Imamura, the creator of Fox McCloud deeply connected to the series, expressed his desire to work on the Star Fox series again to Shigeru Miyamoto. Miyamoto agreed, but proposed a shift from the traditional arcade shooter format. Instead, he suggested an action-adventure title with Fox as the main character. Imamura, along with other Nintendo staff like Kazuaki Morita, started exploring ideas, such as having Fox engage in on-foot exploration and using a gun to shoot enemies.

Despite being a late-stage Nintendo 64 project, progress was slow, with many team members being pulled away for bigger projects related to the upcoming GameCube, like Mario and The Legend of Zelda. At this point, Miyamoto took notice of Rare's action-adventure game featuring Star Fox-like characters, called Dinosaur Planet. Impressed by Rare's E3 demo, Miyamoto and Nintendo staff arranged a meeting with Rare employees to discuss the possibility of merging their projects. This collaboration resulted in the creation of what we now know as Star Fox Adventures.
