Comical Hockey game. The game starred characters from the Kunio-kun series. There are two mode of play: Scenario Mode and Taisen Mode.

In Scenario Mode, Kunio, the captain of the Dodge Ball Club, takes the leadership of Nekketsu High's Hockey Club away from Youichi due to the team's poor performance under his leadership. Now, under Kunio's command, the Nekketsu Hockey Club must win an Inter-School tournament. Taisen Mode is the game's main Versus Mode, where you and another player gets to choose between eight of the game's eleven teams to see who's the best player. A third and fourth players can join in as goalkeepers (same thing with Scenario Mode).

TRIVIA

Released on February 07, 1992 in Japan. Retail price: 6200 Yen.

The title of this game translates from Japanese as "Go Go! Nekketsu Hockey Club: Multi-Sport Riot".

This game was planned to be released in North America under the title of "Crash 'n the Boys: Ice Challenge", but it was cancelled. The April 1993 issue of EGM contained a preview of "Crash 'n the Boys: Ice Challenge". Also, the game was teased after the ending of "Crash 'n the Boys: Street Challenge".
A prototype of "Crash 'n the Boys: Ice Challenge" was seen around the
Classicgaming Expo of 1999. The proto was said to be 40% English and 60% still
in Japanese.

Ike Ike! Nekketsu Hockey-Bu is the ninth game in the Kunio-kun series and the seventh Kunio-kun game released on the Famicom.

BUG: If a team's score is higher than 100, the graphics of their score will appear glitched at the scoreboard.

TIPS AND TRICKS

PASSWORDS
Passwords are used to continue in-game progress in Scenario Mode. Passwords are awarded to the player after they defeat an opposing team, they appear on the top right of Kaori's newspaper article. This screen appears after the scoreboard display once the third period ends. Otherwise, they receive the password upon losing in a separate screen if they chose to quit.
6088: Vs. Nekketsu High School's Baseball Club.
4994: Vs. Yurigaoka Girls High School's Hockey Club.
6342: Vs. Hanazono High School's American Football Club.
7153: Vs. Tanibana High School's Roller Skate Team.
8368: Vs. Shirogane High School's Hockey Club.
6562: Vs. Banba Industries High School's Hockey Club.

There are a few passwords that are never revealed by the game. Three are just omissions from the regular Scenario Mode, one will make Scenario Mode harder, and one brings up a sound test.
2437: Begins the second game, against Nekketsu Kendo Club. It may have been thought unnecessary due to the first game being so easy.
0508: During the last part of Scenario Mode, the game will only give you the password to start at the first game of the Inter-School Tournament. This is the password to jump to the second game instead.
9250: Starts the third and final game.
4728: Begins a harder Scenario Mode, starting from the kendo club. Your teammates for the duration will be the generic River City Ransom enemies that are normally only used for the first game, you don't have access to any of the other uniforms that would normally be acquired, and there are no alternate passwords to resume in this version.
7031: Sends you to a sound test. A plays the selected song/sound, B stops it, and Start returns to the main menu.

EASTER EGGS:
If you leave the title screen alone without pressing any buttons, Kunio will eventually run across the screen past Youichi and the dog. The two will then follow after him.

Normally in the continue screen of Scenario Mode, Kunio will ask Youichi to continue and knock him out with an uppercut if he refuses. If the player loses the game with a five point difference, Kaori will instead ask both Kunio and Youichi to continue. If they refuse, she will knock the two of them out with an uppercut.

When playing against Hanazono in Scenario Mode, if the player manages to get to the second period without Hanazono scoring a dancing bear will move across the arena instead of the janitor during the interval.

When playing as the Dodge Ball Club, after Mitsuhiro recovers from his anger, his face will be that of Kunio. His face returns to normal when a period ends, a match ends, when any player scores or when a player is sent to the penalty box.

The game adds three extra seconds to a period if a goal is scored at the last second of the period.
