Ane-San is a unique side-scrolling beat 'em up game developed by Nec Avenue. It follows a group of three (later expanding to five) tough and determined women on a mission to seek revenge against an evil Yakuza gang of bikers, composed entirely of women. The main fighters are Ai, a thin woman with strong attitude; Chika, an athletic woman; and Makoto, a strong woman. If one of the fighters dies in combat, the player can choose one of the remaining women to continue the fight.

Each of the five heroines has a standard punch, kick, and flying kick in their arsenal of moves. They can also grab their opponents by the hair and pull them out until they are defeated. A special attack can be executed by pressing the two action buttons at the same time.

After each stage is beaten, our heroines get a well-deserved rest in their bedroom where they can buy items to decorate the room and improve their fighting skills, or participate in special (and odd) mini-games. One of these mini-games involves two opponents fighting in an ugly-face contest by actively bashing the D-pad. Overall, Ane-San is an exciting and unique beat 'em up game that offers a refreshing twist on the genre.
