Sonic Blast Man is a side scrolling beat'em up by Taito loosely based the arcade game of the same name originally released in 1990. Heavy Blast Man, evil twin brother of Sonic Blast Man, has decided to take over the world and the universe. But the path towards saving the world is never an easy one, and Sonic Blast Man embarks on a long journey to find his twin sibling, and ultimately defeat him. The player takes control of the unique and wacky super hero in a strange outfit and a tiny cape - he however comes with a complete repertoire of traditional moves such as basic punches and jumps, or powerful and devastating grabbing attacks (he can grab an opponent by the head with a single hand!). But his D-Punches signature moves are what make him such a dangerous opponent! The player starts the game with a limited stock of three, and their function is very similar to super-bombs in a traditional shooter, and they literally knock all enemies off the screen and absorb most of their life bars in a flash. Each level ends with wacky bonus stages where our hero has to trigger a devastating Mega-Punch against a ruthless enemy, ranging from futile gang members to a giant crab or a huge meteor hurling towards Earth!
