(Kiki KaiKai - Dotou Hen)

Here is probably one of the fist home version of Taito's classic action game Kiki Kaikai featuring the cute and young priestess Sayo. It is in a way the conversion of the arcade game released a year earlier - this version is however very different and borrows a lot of original elements from the arcade game (such as story, scenery and enemies) but goes in its own direction entirely. Once again, Sayo's beloved family members have been turned into demons and she must embark on a journey to rescue them from the Dark World. Like with any other Kiki Kaikai game in the series, Sayo is armed with a magic duster wand and magic cards. However, cards are only available in a limited quantities and she must defeat enemies with her wand to refill her stack. Unlike other games in the series, stages are vast and are built more like mazes. A gate leading to the local demon is hidden somewhere in each area and she has to pay a toll (usually 50 magic cards) to pass through. Before she does, she must keep in mind that some demons can only be defeated with those precious magic cards, so she should make sure to collect enough before rushing into action. Once a demon is defeated and consequently one of the family member freed, she enters a bonus level above the clouds. There, more magic cards can be collected but beware of the holes hidden within the fluffy carpet of clouds...
