TRIVIA

Despite 2006 copyright dates appearing in multiple places, this Korean bootleg could not have been made in 2006, since the original was released in September of 2008.

It is derived from the 2008 remake of the 1987 Sega Master System and System E title, originally released on Sega Ages Vol 33: Fantasy Zone Complete Collection for PlayStation 2. Because the game, referred to by fans as "Fantasy Zone II DX" was actually programmed for real System 16 hardware and emulated on the PS2, appropriating it for a bootleg is as simple as isolating the ROM image on the disc.

The Fantasy Zone II remake project is unique among other remakes in that it does not attempt to modernize the game. Instead, it's an attempt to show the full potential of what the game could have been, had it been developed for arcades rather than being made for the home console first (with a later arcade port on console-derived hardware). As such, it is a very loose interpretation of the original, and uses only hardware and techniques available in 1987.
