At the title screen, press Right + B. A sound will confirm correct code entry. Now, start a new game and you'll be able to select any creature to grow instead of 8 predefined characters.

Full creature library:
At the title screen, press Left + B + Select. A sound will confirm correct code entry. Now, during the game you'll be able to see any character's info in the library.
